GEOGRAPHY

The Cuban archipelago is in the most occidental part of the insular Caribbean. Groups the island of Cuba, the island of La Juventud and more of four thousand islets and keys. The territory emerged is one of 111 thousand km². The geography of Cuba, with 6 thousand km of shores, houses numerous inlets, bays, and beaches.  

 

NATURE

The nature of Cuba is rich and curious in all its extension. The Flora distinguishes by the endemic and diversity of its plant communities. Of all this groups, the orchids, cacti, and palms are the highlighted ones. 

CULTURE

The culture of Cuba is one of its biggest assets. Diverse and mixed, it takes part in the identity of the Cuban and in the construction of the nationality. 

SOCIETY

The official language in Cuba is Spanish, and because of the high level of education of the population, its use is correct and with a wide vocabulary of “cubanismo”. 

WEATHER

In Cuba, the climate is tropical, with a dry and relatively cool season from late November to mid-April, and a rainy and muggy season from late April to early November. 

CUSTOM REGULATIONS

The visitor must possess a valid passport, and the Visa or Tourist card. Excepting the countries which Cuba has agreements of free Visa with. 

HEALTH AND SECURITY

Since 2010, the Cuban authorities established regulations to ensure that every person arriving in the country complies with the requirement to have insurance with medical coverage valid in the national territory. Travelers can arrange for this insurance prior to their arrival.

CURRENCY

The national currency in Cuba is the Cuban Peso (CUP). One Cuban Peso is equivalent to 100 cents. The exchange of freely convertible currencies (foreign currency, except US Dollar which is not accepted) for Cuban peso (CUP), is carried out at airports, banks, hotels, exchange houses (CADECA) and shopping malls; always respecting the current exchange rate of the different currencies according to the fluctuation in the world market.

TRAVEL ACCESORIES

Regarding clothing, in your suitcase you should not miss swimsuit and sandals.  Light colored clothing and light fabrics are recommended for the tropical climate in the Caribbean region.
