Bird Watching
Birds are everywhere in Cuba and it’s a fantastic place for birdwatching, whether you are just interested in seeing some amazing and colourful birds or your top bird lister.
Over 380 species have been recorded on the island and 28 of these are found nowhere else in the world. The good news is that you don’t have to go on an expedition to see them. Many of these, and much more, can be seen in the countryside near to where you are staying – even in the parks in Havana and in the grounds of your hotel!
The top sites for birdwatching are The Zapata Swamp, the areas around Viñales and San Diego de los Baños, Cayo Coco and adjacent cays and the Sierra de Najasa in Camagüey province. These areas all have specialist local guides to show you the birds, but wherever you are staying there will a local expert to help you.
